T2i gets some HDR love according to Canon themselves. The quote from their press release reads:

My question is… does the camera shoot 3 AEB and allow +/-5.0EV? Because their language says exposure compensation range. So is it a capture “range” of 5EV or how it reads preceding those words which shows ± 5 EV with the focus on the Plus or Minus.
Currently they have no user manual available for download so this is a mystery at the moment. CanonUSA.com doesn’t show a line item for AEB (Auto Exposure Bracketing) like they usually do for their cameras so again… no definitive answer as of yet. The fact they made a point to comment on the expanded range for HDR capture makes me believe they jumped up significantly here. I can’t wait to hear the actual specs.
I’ve pre-ordered one through Amazon already. The manual controls of full HD video, an external mic input, frame rates, etc… make this a no brainer backup body and video workhorse for certain shoots.

It looks like it will still only allow for 3 shots AEB, but instead of a max of -2,0,+2 you’ll be able to go to -5, 0, +5. Its a shame that it won’t be able to AEB more than 3 shots, it’d be nice to capture -5,-4,-3,-2,-1,0,+1,+2,+3,+4,+5 in one go with one shutter press, but I doubt the 550D can do it without some tweaking mid shot.
The T1i has a +/-4EV range for exposure compensation. The AEB settings are 3 exposures up to +/-2EV, plus exposure compensation from -4 to +4. I think, without any more to go on than anybody else, that the only change here is the +/-4EV range has been expanded to +/-5EV. They might let AEB expand to +/-3EV, but Canon has said nothing to imply that there will be any choice of additional exposures, like the Nikon does.
Nikon has stubbornly refused to address their 1stop AEB limitation. Canon pro bodies have had expanded AEB functionality for years.
I just assumed it would bracket 5 shots at once. I guess I was wrong. This seems like such a simple request. There is no doubt this will be coming in the future.
If in fact it is just 3 AEB and +/-2EV that sucks. I guess the fact that Canon has expanded the exposure compensation to +/-5EV they somehow think this is going to be beneficial to a single AEB sequence? Please. What a joke.
Seems idiotic they put in language as to how this is beneficial to the HDR shooter unless they did in fact change the past Rebel AEB settings.
I will say though that if the T2i gets the 7D’s AEB of +/-3EV for an AEB sequence, that would at least be a welcomed improvement….
… but 3 AEB still sucks.
Look folks. I love Canon. I just bought a 5D mark II recently to shoot along with other Nikon/Sigma bodies, but the 5D mark II is a very high end camera and yet still the same crappy 3AEB.
Increasing their current limit of 3 AEB is a very simple software change. Canon is basically screwing with us.
